Everyone can’t be above average … Do you think your trustworthiness is above average? How about your reading ability? Your looks? Or your dancing ability? Obviously, no more than 50% of us can be above or below average at anything – that’s just simple math. But YouGov did a wide-ranging survey on what people think they’re above and below average at, and the numbers are both eye-opening and amusing. For example:
- 77% think they’re more trustworthy than the average person.
- 71% say they’re more honest.
- 63% believe they have above-average reading skills.
- 50% think they’re better-than-average drivers, but only 12% cop to being below average.
- 41% believe they’re better cooks than the average Joe or Jane. Just 21% say they’re worse.
- 27% think they have above-average looks, and 19% say they’re below average – meaning most of us figure we’re about average.
- 16% say they’re above-average dancers. 54% believe they can’t dance very well.
- 15% say they’re better than the average runner, and 57% say they’re worse.
