Stop arguing to win…

If you get into a big argument with your significant other, a friend or a relative, it’s natural to try to “win” the argument. But according to psychologist Matthew Fisher, that’s a bad strategy. Instead, he says, you should “argue to learn.” Even when things get heated, you’ll get much more out of an argument if you keep an open mind. Not only do you stand to gain a greater understanding of the issue, you’ll also encourage the other person to be more receptive, too. Then both of you can walk away from the fight feeling better about it -- and more knowledge almost always leads to greater success.
