Jack Kratoville can crack an egg with one hand, a skill left over from his days as a short-order cook. Radio, though, has been his real gig since 1979. He started out volunteering at a local station and moved on to college radio at Emerson College in Boston, and he’s since worked mornings, middays, afternoons, evenings, and overnights across Top 40, album rock, country, oldies, and soft rock. He was on the air during the 2003 Northeast blackout and after 9/11, he’s done countless interviews, and he spent 10 years teaching broadcasting and talent workshops. As he puts it, he hasn’t worked a day in more than 40 years.

Raised in the Northeast, Jack loves photography, biking, travel, and music. Home is Tanya, his kids, Kyle and Jackie, four cats, and one dog. He supports animal shelters, children’s causes, and local charities. Steely Dan, Pat Metheny, Stevie Wonder, and Tears for Fears fill his playlist, Roxy Music was his first concert, and “It’s a Shame” by the Spinners is a permanent no-skip. On the air, he’s funny, friendly, and himself. Off the air, he’s probably enjoying a peanut butter cup milkshake or a hot coffee with milk, no sugar.
