Seniors and social media … Young people get called out for being on social media all the time – but it seems older folks are just as guilty. A survey of seniors found that the average American 65 and older spends almost 300 hours a year on social media -- an average of about 47 minutes a day. No surprise – they spend the most time on Facebook (75%), followed by YouTube (28%) and Instagram (10%). 54% of the seniors polled said they use social media to kill time, 58% said they log on to stay in touch with loved ones, and 61% said they use it to reconnect with friends. Nearly 40% said they even made a new friend on social media.
