Researchers in Spain say edible insects are a good source of protein with less of a carbon footprint than beef. They also surveyed more than 1000 people about their thoughts on eating bugs. 86% said they’ve never eaten an insect, with 13% saying they’ve tried it at least once. Understandably, 38% said the idea grosses them out, another 15% said it’s not part of their culture to eat bugs, and 9% said they were concerned about the safety of eating insects. That said, 58% agreed that bugs could become a viable meat alternative in the future.
