Use the 50% rule. The 50% rule was developed by fitness expert Stephanie Mansour. In a nutshell, the idea is simply to do half of your goal as a way to achieve success. Say your goal is to exercise 30 minutes a day during the holidays. With busy schedules during the season, you could be setting yourself up for failure. Instead of throwing in the towel and telling yourself you’ll just wait till January to achieve your exercise goals, make it your goal to exercise just 15 minutes a day instead. Swear you’ll say no to all desserts during the holidays? The likelihood of that happening is not very high, so just tell yourself you’ll just have half of what you normally would. Same goes for alcohol. Instead of three glasses of wine, cut it to one and a half. You’ll be less likely to have a hangover – and more likely to keep your exercise goal.
