Jeff Bezos held a ceremony to honor country music legend Dolly Parton with the Bezos Courage and Civility Award.
The award comes with a no-strings-attached $100 million gift from billionaire Bezos. Dolly said in accepting the award over the weekend, (quote) “Did you say a hundred million dollars? I will do my best to do good things with this money.”
Dolly is well-known for her charitable work. She donated $1 million toward Moderna’s research in creating a COVID vaccine. She offers college scholarships and has donated more than a million books for young readers.
For the year, Bezos donated to multiple non-profits a total of $174 million in Amazon stock from his vast $124 billion fortune, By comparison, his ex-wife Makenzie Scott has given away $13 billion (with a B) in two years. (Forbes)
