According to a new survey, 52% of Americans ended a friendship because that friend supported a rival football team. The survey also found that it takes an average of three days to get over the pain when a favorite football team loses.
For many fans, football is fun -- and it consumes plenty of time and attention.
But ... It's just sports. Fans have no control over how well or poorly a team plays. And yet, sports fans allow teams to influence -- in a big way -- how happy or sad they are on any given day. Or week.
No judgment, of course. It's fun to get wrapped up in the success or failure of a team.
But if you take one step back, it's easy to see that all this emotion and noise and rage and chest-thumping doesn't really mean much, does it?
