Most companies offer some type of PTO (paid time off) that is for their employees to use at their discretion. The methods of requesting the time off may vary, but one thing that is consistent is that you owe no one an explanation or reason for taking time off. Many people feel the need to share with their supervisors what they’re using their time off for; however, there is a need to normalize not telling your boss what you’re doing on your time off. Think of the P in PTO as personal. One more thing: the U.S. is the only country in the world without a single legally required paid vacation day or holiday while countries in the European Union offer employees at least four work weeks of paid vacation.
Bottom line.. take your vacation if ya got it!
