WEIRD NEWS: Hive In Drive

A New Mexico man made a quick stop into a grocery store and returned to the parking lot to find a beehive on wheels in place of where his car had been.

The man parked his car and went into an Albertson's store for about 10 minutes. When he returned to his car, he found that about 15,000 bees had found a home inside the Buick. He called 911 and the fire department was dispatched to the scene, along with off-duty firefighter Jesse Johnson, who happened to have experience as a beekeeper.

Johnson explained that honeybees typically look for a new home in the spring and they likely saw the car's open window as a good spot for a new hive. Johnson spent about 30 minutes moving the bees into an empty hive box and then brought them back to the hive he keeps at his home. The fire department says two people were stung but there were no significant injuries. (CBS News
