Lady Gaga To Perform At MTV VMAs For First Time In Almost A Decade

Lady Gaga is heading to the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards for her first performance at the ceremony since 2013.

On Thursday (August 13), Mother Monster made the big announcement, admitting that she's ready to bring Chromatica to life during the Keke Palmer-hosted affair. In the announcement video, the pop star was seen wearing her robe and sipping a cocktail with an oversized headpiece, before pushing the camera out of the way. "I've been at home dreaming of #Chromatica, and it’s finally time to take off for the first live performance 🛸 Tune in to the #VMAs on 8/30! ⚔️💓," she captioned the post on Instagram. This will be the superstar’s first performance at the VMAs since her rendition of "Applause" in 2013.

In addition to performance duties, Gaga is also lined up for a number of awards, tying Ariana Grande for the most nominations this year. The two have nine nods apiece and scored some love in the Video of the Year category for their collaboration, "Rain On Me."

Gaga joins a roster of performers, including BTS, Doja Cat, J Balvin, The Weeknd, Roddy Ricch, Maluma and CNCO. Instead of being held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, the VMAs are opting for audience-less outdoor performances in and around New York City. "The 2020 VMAs will be held on Sunday, August 30th and pay homage to the incredible resiliency of New York with several outdoor performances around the City with limited or no audience, adhering to all state and city guidelines," spokespersons for MTV and the Barclays Center said in a joint statement.

If you want to get in on the action for the upcoming ceremony, you can vote for all 15 gender-neutral categories. The 2020 MTV Video Music Awards will air at 8pm ET on August 30 across MTV's linear and digital platforms.
