Parents are feeling a serious case of holiday nostalgia this year. A new Talker Research survey found 81% of parents miss the magic of the holidays from their own childhood, and 93% are now re-creating those traditions for their kids. The biggest things they miss? Family traditions, favorite homemade recipes, and simply spending uninterrupted time together. In fact, many say the holidays felt best back in the ’90s! Parents think age 6 is the peak of holiday magic, but they’re also realizing those years fly by fast. Nearly half say they’re making a bigger effort to be present and soak up every moment.
Speaking of the holidays …
If you're wondering what holiday trends are hot this year, it turns out Gen Z and Millennials are channeling their inner grandparents. A new report finds younger adults are embracing "grannycore" decor, filling their homes with cozy touches like tartan plaid, ceramic Christmas trees, vintage ornaments, crochet, and handmade decorations. They're also trading screen time for old-school fun, with huge spikes in knitting, embroidery, scrapbooking, puzzles, and classic board games. The trend is all about nostalgia, togetherness, and making the holidays feel more personal. In fact, many young adults say they'd rather gather with friends and family than receive gifts, and they're actively looking for screen-free activities. Retailers are seeing growing demand for crafts, games, and retro-inspired holiday decor as people prioritize meaningful memories over expensive purchases.
