Bonehead Of The Day:

Kareese Raven takes her ham very seriously. The 28-year-old got into a fight with her boo, 52-year-old Greg Serb,  over the best way to cook the meat. At one point, Raven got so mad she  took a butcher knife and started swinging. By the time Centre County,  Pennsylvania police arrived, Serb had multiple cuts on his body  including a small chest laceration and a “deep bleeding laceration on  his left middle finger.” Oh, and Raven also threw a shoe at Serb. Raven  is now facing felony assault, reckless endangerment, harassment, and  simple assault charges. No word on the ham. Source: The Smoking Gun

ICYMI: Police chief writes himself a ticket:

Just because you're the police chief doesn't mean you're above the law. In case you missed it, Sperry, Oklahoma Police Chief Justin Burch was caught speeding by a local resident. He later posted on the department's Facebook that while he had an excuse, he was holding himself accountable and giving himself a $300 ticket. Source: Sperry Police Department

on Saturday

I am writing to inform everyone that I, Chief Burch, was breaking the law by speeding on 103rd St N. A citizen made a complaint about it and I acknowledge that I was wrong in traveling at 75 and 80 mph. I did have a reason for being in a hurry, but my speeds were not reasonable. I am holding myself accountable just as anyone else would have to be. I have written myself a citation and will be paying it just like every other citizen. I regret my actions and I sincerely apologize. I hope everyone has a great Easter weekend and please be safe.Chief Burch.

Leave it to a group of tech-savvy concert-goers to solve a case of stolen cellphones at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival over the weekend. At a scene like Coachella, where any music act, art installation and fashion or food trend is Instagrammable or Snapchatted, it’s no wonder several festival-goers noticed their cellphones had vanished during the event Friday.According to the Indio Police Department, the music fans activated their “Find My iPhone” app and followed Reinaldo De Jesus Henao around the venue until he was detained by security workers.Officers later arrived and found more than 100 cellphones in Henao’s backpack, police said.Link: http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-coachella-stolen-cellphones-20170417-story.html

Today is National Amaretto Day

April 19th is National Amaretto Day! If you’ve never had the pleasure, amaretto is a popular Italian liqueur that is a common ingredient in many dishes and beverages. The name "amaretto" means "slightly bitter" and refers to the aftertaste of the drink, which comes from its strong almond flavoring. And get this – it’s not actually from almonds. Not always, at least. The flavor is actually derived from almonds, or apricot kernel oil, burnt sugar, and spices…or both!Although amaretto didn’t arrive in the United States until the 1960's, it can be traced all the way back to 16th century Italy. As legend has it, a painter named Bernadino Luini traveled to Saronno in northern Italy and met a beautiful widow. When he asked her to be the model for one of his paintings she expressed her gratitude by presenting him with the first amaretto drink. And the rest is history!
