Bonehead Of The Day:

Bozo criminal for today comes from the International File in Salzburg, Austria, where our unidentified bozo had heard some nasty rumors. So he decided to head down to the local police station to try to either confirm or have those rumors denied. He walked up to the front desk and told the officer that he just wanted to check to find out if they had “nothing on him.” The cops checked their records and found out that, indeed, he was a wanted man, with a warrant out for his arrest on four counts of fraud and embezzlement. Oops. He was taken into custody.

Here's a First!

DENVER, May 7 (UPI) -- In what could be a first-time event, Denver police are trying to track down thieves who were caught on camera burglarizing a marijuana grow center.

The suspects were captured on surveillance video taking $12,000 worth of marijuana plants from the Chronic Therapy grow house.

The thieves took about 25 plants during the 30-minute burglary and also caused a good amount of damage at the family-owned business.

"I've never seen them before. They definitely seemed like professionals," the owner, Bob, told ABC 7. "It's really a loss of time is what you're dealing with. My growers put so much time and effort into growing our organic medicine for our patients that it really sets you back, 3 [to] 6 months.”

The police say this could be the first investigation they’ve conducted for the theft of marijuana plants, but it will just be business as usual, according to CBS Denver.

“We take this like any other crime that goes on, we have to respect the laws in the city and county of Denver and we have to protect the rights of those people who have invested in that business,” said Denver Police spokesman Sonny Jackson. “They may not get the value back of the plants but these individuals need to face justice for the crime they committed.”

Most Americans plan to buy a gift for Mother's Day, yet very few feel confident their mom will like it.  Shopping and lifestyle expert Trae Bodge says there's no reason to stress over buying a gift.
RetailMeNot.com just released its Mother's Day Poll, which shows 91-percent of Americans plan on buying their mom a gift this year.  Of those, 85 percent said they are worried about choosing the wrong gift.  Bodge says the secret to reducing shopping anxiety is going with a tried and true gift.  She recommends a spa day, gift certificate or a nice dinner.

Prom.. Draft Style

Finding a prom date can be a stressful thing for guys and girls, so one high school has reportedly found a way to make it a bit easier, with a draft.

"The Los Angeles Times" is reporting the boys at Corona Del Mar High School in Newport Beach, California rank the female students and even sell first-round picks to anyone who wants to cough up the money. One junior reportedly paid $140 to get a high first rank pick because he wanted to go with a specific girl. Some girls understandably have a problem with this, but as one guy says, "a lot of the girls respect the draft and stick with those dates."

Word has traveled to principal Kathy Scott and she is "discouraging" the boys from continuing this tradition. She asked parents to speak with their kids about how the “prom draft” could be harmful, the paper reports, and the Orange County district attorney has been asked to investigate.

Dad Builds Son A Roller Coaster In The Back Yard

In case you missed it, we have another contender for father of the year! 10-year-old Lyle Pemble's love of roller coasters started last summer when he rode one in New Jersey. Since then, the California youngster "started doing research on them" to try and find the best one.

That's when he asked his dad, Will, if they could build one in the backyard. "I started building the coaster because, Lyle, my son asked me if we could, and I couldn’t think of a good reason to say no,” Will Pemble said. Fair enough.

Will went on to explain to CBS Local that building the coaster helped his son with math, physics, and science, because it made the problems more exciting. "So if there’s a coaster at the other side of how many feet of track do we need…then suddenly the word problem gets done really fast," he added. You can check out their progress, and see the other coasters Will is building.
