HEALTH: Life Expectancy Lowest in the South

The CDC published its average life expectancy figures today, and it shows that the majority of states with the lowest life expectancy in 2019 were in the South.

The report from the CDC's National Center for Health Statistics ranked all 50 states, and Washington, DC, in order of average life expectancy and found that Hawaii and California are at the top of the list at 80.9 years. Right behind are New York, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Connecticut and New Jersey. 

Mississippi had the lowest life expectancy at 74.4 years, followed by West Virginia, Alabama, Kentucky, and Tennessee. The national average is 78.8 years. (NBC News)
