Mariah Carey is taking back the previously announced July 23rd release date for her upcoming album. On Monday night, the singer tweeted her 11 million followers explaining that the album would not be ready to hit stores in a month's time, as scheduled.
She writes that she's been "so immersed in the creative process," and feels that she wouldn't be "doing it justice" to rush the release, which will be the eleventh studio album of her career.
The singer adds that she wants to give fans the album "as it's meant to be heard" and "not exclude meaningful songs."
Mariah, who is set to perform at this Sunday's BET Awards, did not however announce a new release date. Minutes after posting, she started re-tweeting supportive messages from fans.
While making this album, I got so immersed in the creative process that I just don't feel I would be doing it justice to release it on 7/23.— Mariah Carey (@MariahCarey) June 25, 2013
